8th Bieg Szklarski: Sandomierz and Tarnobrzeg to Run for the 'Tratwa' Association

NSG Group, the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in Sandomierz and the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre in Tarnobrzeg have announced the opening of registration for the 8th Bieg Szklarski, to be held on 20 September 2026. This year, participants will combine sporting competition with charitable support – the full amount from entry fees will be donated to renovate a building for the users of the Occupational Therapy Workshop run by the 'Tratwa' Association.

Bieg Szklarski is an annual sporting event that has become a fixture on the calendar of the Sandomierz and Tarnobrzeg region. Its aim is to promote an active lifestyle, bring together residents of the two neighbouring towns, and support local community initiatives. This year's eighth edition sets participants a clear charitable goal. Funds raised from entry fees will help the 'Tratwa' Association for People with Disabilities in Sandomierz adapt and renovate a building for the users of its Occupational Therapy Workshop.

Sporting Challenges for Everyone

The organisers have prepared routes suited to different levels of experience. The main event on the programme is the Półmaraton Szklarski half marathon over 21.1 km, its flat route running through the streets of Sandomierz and Tarnobrzeg. For those preferring shorter distances, there is the 'Szklana Szóstka' run and a Nordic Walking march – both over 6 km.

The event also offers alternative ways to take part. Those unable to attend in person can join the virtual run on 20–21 September. The youngest participants can look forward to children's and youth races over distances of 100 to 600 m, while dog lovers can enter the 'Szklana 6-tka z psem' category.

A Shared Goal and Team Spirit

The event is also an opportunity for NSG Group employees in Poland to come together, competing in a dedicated team challenge. The three best teams will receive commemorative statuettes.

Beyond the running routes, participants and spectators can look forward to a range of attractions in the race village by Port Kultury in Sandomierz. Planned activities include art workshops for children and adults, inflatables, a photo wall, and a fair organised by the 'Tratwa' Association.

Registration and Organisational Details

Entries are accepted online at www.biegszklarski.pl until 18 September 2026, as well as on race day at the Race Office (Port Kultury, ul. Portowa 24, Sandomierz). The entry fee is PLN 60 for the half marathon and PLN 50 for the 6 km races (for registrations made by 18 September). After that date, fees rise to PLN 80 and PLN 70 respectively. Every participant receives a starter pack (T-shirt, race number, timing chip, drinks and snacks), plus a commemorative medal at the finish line and a warm recovery meal, also available in a vegetarian option.

Józef Banaś, an employee of Pilkington Automotive Poland and the event's organiser, underlines the significance of the event:

Bieg Szklarski is more than a sporting competition for us. It is a moment when, as NSG Group, together with the residents of Sandomierz, Tarnobrzeg and our employees, we join forces to help those who need it. The entry fee from every participant will go towards renovating the building for the beneficiaries of the Occupational Therapy Workshop. We are counting on runners taking part both on-site and virtually.
